Indenting agent services · Mumbai
As an indenting agent, Chelora Pharmachem connects Indian manufacturers with overseas producers of pharmaceutical chemicals, excipients and vitamins – so you import in your own name, at producer pricing, with one experienced team coordinating every step.
§ 01The definitionWhat indenting means
/ɪnˈdɛntɪŋ ˈeɪdʒənt/noun· trade
For buyers who prefer to import in their own name, Chelora Pharmachem works as an indenting agent. We introduce you to established producers abroad, negotiate the offer on your behalf, and stay involved – from the proforma invoice to the moment the container reaches your plant.
You sign the contract with the producer, pay the producer, and clear the goods as the importer. We make sure specifications, documents, timelines and communication stay on track in between.
It is a practical route for larger and regular volumes, where a direct contract with the producer makes commercial sense.
“You get the producer's price and paperwork – and a Mumbai team that answers the phone.”
§ 02The structureWho does what
Every indent connects three parties. Select a flow to see how goods, money and information move between them.

§ 05The termsIncoterms® 2020, simplified
The delivery term in your contract decides who arranges and pays for each leg of the journey. Choose a term to see the split.
The producer makes the goods available at its premises. You arrange everything else – including export clearance in the producer's country.
Rare for imports into India, because export formalities abroad fall on the buyer.
The producer clears the goods for export and loads them on the vessel you nominate. You arrange and pay for sea freight, insurance and everything after.
Common for sea shipments when you have your own freight forwarder.
The producer also pays the sea freight to the Indian port. Risk passes to you once the goods are loaded, so you usually arrange insurance.
Common in indent trade – simple, with insurance under your control.
As CFR, but the producer also provides minimum cargo insurance to the Indian port. You handle unloading, import clearance and onward delivery.
The most common term for chemical indents into Indian ports.
The producer delivers to a named place in India, ready for unloading. You handle import clearance and pay duties.
Less common for indents; used when the producer has logistics in India.
The producer delivers to your plant with import duties paid – the most the seller can take on.
Uncommon, as the overseas seller must act as importer in India.
Simplified overview for orientation only. Costs, risk transfer and insurance obligations follow the exact wording of your contract and the Incoterms® 2020 rules published by the International Chamber of Commerce.
§ 06The paymentCommon terms in indent trade
Under an indent you pay the producer directly. These are the terms we see most often – each balances cost, security and cash flow differently.
Your bank guarantees payment once the producer presents compliant documents. Strong protection for both sides.
As an LC, but payment falls due a set number of days after shipment or sight – giving you time to receive and use the goods.
Documents are released to you through the banks only when you pay. Lower cost, with less protection than an LC.
You pay part or all of the value before shipment. Simple and inexpensive, but the risk sits with you.
Indicative comparison. Your bank will advise on charges, limits and the documentation each term requires.
§ 07The preparationBefore your first indent
Importing in your own name means a few registrations and partners must be ready. We'll guide you through what applies to your product.
